The Escape of The Serial Killers
After 2 years of imprisonment, the three infamous Serial Killers of Novus- Smiley, Jack and Erzsebet - have escaped from the heavily guarded Vanguard Holding Facility (refer to Appendix A: “Footage from Vanguard Holding Facility Cameras”) and continued their killing spree with renewed vengeance and malice. Since their escape, the killers have left a frenzied river of blood in their wake as the number of fatalities and strikes continue to rise. The three first made their presence known to the citizens of Novus by posting in a supposedly restricted area of the Pan Galactic Infonet.
This was met by public speculation that the Pan Galactic Infonet had been hacked, but soon enough, survivors of their last murder spree spoke up and their true identities and intentions were revealed (refer to Appendix B: “’The Pan Galactic Infonet has been Hacked!’” for the complete list of threads created by the Serial Killers). Aside from this, it appears that at least one Serial Killer managed to gain a high level of security clearance to the Pan Galactic Network, which caused rash of minor defamation incidents. Prior to their assault, the other Vanguards attempted to recapture the Serial Killers. Their performance in combat with the Hastatum suggests that they have somehow been given more powerful abilities: even Vanguard Commander Apollon had difficulty dealing with one of them (refer to Appendix C: “Apollon Faces Off with Smiley”). The Vanguards suffered several serious injuries, officially listing Sentinel Lakhesis and Senior Scribe Xeris as casualties in their early attacks. Evidence of heavy Dark Hole use was shown with these early interactions, particularly with regard to the Corite, Erzsebet. Said Serial Killer also made mention of a “(new) Master” and even threatened both the AoW and Chroniclers, who are currently researching several mysterious records and artifacts of the Novus Sector. The Hastatum is currently unsure whether “Master” here refers to Thor, who was captured on video in the security footage of their breakout, or to someone else. The extensive use of the Dark Hole suggests that they at least have dealings with the Corite renegade named Hybroer. Reminiscent of their last rampage, the three Killers stuck to their specific targets: The childlike Smiley, a seemingly innocent yet cruel rogue Accretian frame, hunted down Corites in its search for toys.
Jack or Jaqueline, the calculating yet poetic Bellato mother, targeted Accretians in her ruthless search for revenge in the name of her slain family.
The Corite Erzsebet, in jealous rage, tracked down Bellato females as retribution for the betrayal of her lover.
The armies of the Three Races have failed in their attempts to capture the fugitives. The Archons and Councils of the Accretian, Bellato and Corite forces themselves were powerless as they became easy prey to the Killers. Survivors and eyewitnesses report that the Serial Killers showed no remorse in their actions. The body count was quite high in several instances. They are also reported to have exhibited supernatural powers and abilities. According to one eyewitness account, the Killers would “appear out of thin air, attack with terrifying speed, accuracy and strength then disappear just as quickly.” While each race fought valiantly to capture and subdue the murderers, all three Serial Killers have evaded or frustrated all attempts and remain at large. Summons have been sent by the Race Representatives to the three persons who can conceivably stop the three.
